New Scale House 2014The purpose of the Wood County Landfill is to provide economical, environmentally responsible opportunities to recycle and dispose of unwanted materials.

What to do when you get to the Landfill:

1.  Pull up onto the scale – wait until the light turns green.  One car in, one car out rotation.
2.  Turn left towards public dumping site.  Back up to the boxes on the concrete platform and unload.  There will be three boxes for your landfill items.
3.  Once finished, drive onto scale in opposite direction of entry.  If there is a vehicle already on the scale, please pull over and allow them to drive through.

On June 29, 2018, with assistance from our consultant, Hull & Associates, a Landfill Expansion Permit was submitted to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.  On August 6, 2018, we held an Application Meeting which was open for the public to learn about this process and ask questions.  On July 26, 2021, the Ohio EPA issued a draft PTI.  The Ohio EPA will be holding a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, in the Simpson Meeting Room at the Simpson Building, located at 1291 Conneaut Avenue, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.  The Ohio EPA will also be accepting written comments regarding the draft PTI through September 16, 2021.  Comments can be emailed to or mailed to, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, Ohio 43216-1049, Attention: Brian Dearth.  This permit, if approved, will provide over 100 years extended life to our Landfill.
